'Our Club - Our Community' Launch Night
19th November 2023
We held a fantastic 'Our Club - Our Community' Launch Night on Thursday past in The Wild Duck Inn were we had a tremendous turnout of both young and more mature members of our community where they witnessed the new development plans for Páirc Uí Cheallaigh and Páirc Uí Chathain.
Our Chairman, Sean McAleese, kicked off proceedings with a brief history of our club over the last eighty years and a breakdown of what has happened at our grounds since the opening of Páírc Uí Cheallaigh.
Claire Doherty then took the stage to explain the key requirements identified for the new development and discussed the needs of the coaches.
Our club Treasurer, Donal Murphy, went on to talk about the future development plans and how these will require major financial backing and the key role that Club Portglenone will have in securing finance and potential sources of grant aid.
Ryan Dougan from Vision Design Architecture, then walked us through the plans of the new development proposals while he explained various design decisions all based on the mentor comments in the working group.
Finally, our special guest, Ulster GAA Chair, Ciaran MCLaughlin, praised the work done by both Clubs and in particular the Development Committee charged with the design of the new development proposals. He commented that with the large numbers present at the event, there was a strong will and interest in the community to move the two clubs forward with their proposals for future development in Portglenone.
