Charity Football Game in Memory of Paddy Fullan

18th May 2024

Despite our naturally deep-rooted rivalries on the pitch, we stand together with a shared vision to celebrate the life of Paddy Fullan. It seems only right that Paddy’s two favourite clubs, Roger Casements and Erins Own GAC Cargin, shake hands on the turf to play for The Paddy Fullan Memorial Trophy.

Saturday 8th June promises to be a wonderful occasion to showcase sport at its finest between our two clubs with Paddy’s memory upheld as a beacon of decency, generosity and humility.

The evening kicks off with the following line up:

Camogie 4-5pm

U8, U10 & U14

Football 5-6pm

U8, U10 & U12

Masters over 40s 6pm

You can be assured of a warm County Antrim welcome with refreshments and music afterwards in the Roger Casements GAA Hall for both clubs to round off a special day.

We hope you can all join together with us, be it at pitch side or later over a drink, to remember all the times shared with Paddy. Indeed, Paddy and the whole Fullan family have been stalwart supporters of our club as the leading sponsor through many seasons. Their position on Main Street next to our Social Club has made us neighbours, not only in bricks but also in a tight bond of trust forged over the years. Paddy, in his trademark style liked to stay in the background so this is our opportunity to allow his memory to be elevated and cherished. He never missed a senior home match especially if it was a game against his home club Cargin. The banter and the craic in the shop pre and post match were part of Paddy’s daily routine (despite the fact that sometimes the scorelines were best left forgotten!) So in the spirit of friendship we come as one voice to remember him fondly on this his first anniversary.

All proceeds from the day will be donated to the Air Ambulance NI, a charity that also works diligently in the service of others and one that garners respect from all in Portglenone.

We look forward to welcoming each and every one of you on the day!
