2018 SEASON PREVIEW
The 2018 season officially gets underway this week with our senior reserves playing in the 1st round of the Reserve Cup Championship tomorrow evening away to Lamh Dherg at 7pm.
The league commences on Wednesday with the seniors facing a tough opener away to county champions Lamh Dherg (reserve 6.30 & senior 7.45) Jude Donnelly again takes charge of the seniors, assisted by Seamus Scullion while Phelim McCloskey will once again manage the reserves.
Preparations for the new season have gone well, greatly helped by the magnificent new floodlit pitch at O’Cahan Park, with players not required to travel to seek training facilities. As well as several competitive friendlies, our seniors competed in the Ulster League in a group with Bellaghy, Ballinascreen, Cootehill and Ramor United.
The focus now for the senior management and players is to improve upon last years league position and make a big impression on the championship, with a tough opener v Rossa.
2018 will prove to be a historic year for Casements juveniles. After 40 years of successful partnership with neighbours St Mary’s Ahoghill as part of Sean Stinsons, our underage teams will this year don the amber and black and compete as Roger Casements. All age groups, from nursery to minor have been turning out in great numbers for training & games. This all bodes well for the future! Special thanks to all our dedicated coaches.
Special mention also to Geraldine’s CC, having made the switch to amber & black. Great to see all our teams competing in the same colours🌕🌑
In just a few weeks the new pitch at O’Cahan Park will be officially opened by new GAA President John Horan. It will be an actioned packed weekend of games, kids activities and live entertainment, headlined by the Whistling Donkeys! Keep any eye out this week for full details for what will be a historic occasion for the club.
A special word of thanks must go to all those that have given so much of their free time to help transform O’Cahan Park into one of the best GAA facilities in the county. We really have something to be very proud and will provide for future generations, and we’re not finished yet!
Finally, good luck to all our teams & let’s make 2018 a year to remember!
